Vaccinated with Gratitude

“Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ…” Ephesians 5:17-20

A heart controlled by the Holy Spirit is grateful. When you are filled up with the Holy Spirit, you are controlled by the Spirit of God. Once the Spirit of God vaccinates the soul with gratitude, it prevents the virus of discontentment. We tend to complain and grumble when we don’t have control of life. When the Holy Spirit is in control, gone is murmuring, and it is replaced with an appreciative attitude. This grateful attitude is helpful and hopeful.

Another result of being controlled/filled with the Spirit of God, is a heart of worship. Worship of God bursts forth from a heart captured by Christ. A melody of grateful praise brings joy to our Lord. This causes us to sing with a smile on our face and a song in our heart.

This Sunday we are planning to celebrate the Lord’s Supper with Thanksgiving in our heart. We are going to the cross and remembering the sacrifice of Christ—His body sacrificed for us and His blood shed for our atonement. Prepare your hearts so we come to the Lord’s table in a worthy manner.

Also remember that Sunday is the last day to bring in your Operation Christmas Child boxes. We will have a commissioning time for our boxes as they go to children around the world! God is good!

See you Sunday!

Pastor Todd
