The Unfinished Task

The Unfinished Task

“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.” (The Apostle Paul to the Ephesian Elders in Acts 20:24)
What a blessing to share another year with each of you! As we celebrate three years with First Baptist Church, our hearts are filled with hope and expectation for 2022. This past Sunday, I reminded you that the promises for Joshua are also meant for us. Just as God told Joshua that he “would never leave or forsake him,” God is fulfilling that promise in our lives through His son Jesus (and the Holy Spirit). God makes His Power and His Presence available to us daily. Every minute of the day, we can tap into the resurrection power of Christ. Don’t forget that even when life becomes difficult or we encounter transitions, the mission of God never stops. Let’s not get sidetracked with the changing culture and society around us. Let’s not become discouraged by governments and politics. Let’s remember that God’s mission never changes. We have the privilege to KNOW CHRIST and MAKE CHRIST KNOWN to the world. I just read about an 85 year old woman who took her walker and went door to door telling others about Jesus. That was inspirational! Did you know that there is no retirement in Kingdom work? Yes, we may retire from our jobs, but we have the unfinished task of testifying to God’s grace. As the Apostle Paul came to an end of his life, he recognized that nothing mattered more than the mission. May we have the same mentality. May we be driven to finish the task that God has for each of us---the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace. Let’s keep growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Let’s hold each other accountable as we grow in Him together this year. I’m excited to be your Pastor. I’m excited to see what God has in store for us all as we worship and serve Him!
Don’t forget about our Wednesday supper and Life Groups, beginning at 5 pm!
Have a Jesus-filled week!
Pastor Todd
