COME LORD JESUS

COME LORD JESUS---Isaiah 9:6-7

6    For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7    Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

While verse 6 speaks of the first coming of Jesus; verse 7 speaks of His second coming.

Verse 6 is about Jesus being with us on earth. Verse 7 is about us being with Him in Heaven.

I've told you before there's a huge difference between how He came the first time and how He will come the second time.

The first time He came He came in humility and was powerless.

The second time He will come with all the strength, power and glory of heaven.

The first time He came in all humility.

The second time He will come with all authority.

The first time he came just a few shepherds bowed before Him and worshiped Him.

The second time every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

The first time He came to save the world.

The second time He will come to judge the world.

He came the first time to offer hope.

He will come the second time for those who accepted it.

When He comes again He won't be voted into office, and He can't be voted out of office. He won't be coming to take sides. He will be coming to take over. Every time we celebrate Christmas we should be reminded that He promised He would come the first time...and He did. He also promised He's coming a second time...and guess what? He will. Are you ready?

Let me end with a story I heard years ago that really stirred my heart. It was about a man who lost his wife to cancer. His deep grief and sorrow plunged him into a sadness and depression that seemed unshakable. He would go to work at the post office and work overtime for free just to keep his mind of his situation.

It was Christmastime, and one of his jobs at the post office was to take all the letters addressed to Santa and try to reroute them back to their original owners. One evening, he was fumbling through the Santa letters and discovered that one of them had his own return address on it. His little girl had written to Santa. He opened that letter and this what his little girl wrote:

Dear Santa,

My mom died two months ago. And since then my dad cries himself to sleep every night. He says that only eternity will heal his hurt. I was wondering if you would bring him a little bit of eternity this Christmas.

Isaiah is proclaiming to us that God sent eternity to us in the form of His Son Jesus Christ. God sent the very heart of heaven for you and me. He can heal your hurt and better yet, He can save your soul.

Christmas BEGAN in the heart of God. It is only COMPLETE when it reaches the heart of man.

Praying the Christ of Christmas has reached your heart!

Have a Jesus-filled Christmas!
